Kathryn Cockrill focuses her practice on estate planning, probate administration, trust administration, and guardianship and conservatorship matters. She represents and counsels families throughout the Lowcountry, providing thoughtful guidance through complex legal and personal decisions.
Originally from Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, Kathryn earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut in 2002. While at UConn, she worked as the manager of the women’s basketball team under Coach Geno Auriemma, earning two NCAA National Championships in 2000 and 2002. After graduating, Kathryn worked as a paralegal at Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer in Woodbridge, New Jersey, where she developed a strong foundation in the legal profession and discovered her passion for the law.
Kathryn earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2009. During law school, she received a fellowship that allowed her to clerk for the Honorable Irvin Condon, Judge of Probate for Charleston County, South Carolina, an experience that has been invaluable to her practice. She was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2009.
Prior to opening her firm, Kathryn managed the law practice of Kuhn & Kuhn, LLC in Charleston for four years. In 2016, she established the Law Office of Kathryn M. Cockrill, LLC.
Kathryn is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Charleston County Bar Association, WealthCounsel, and the National Aging in Place Council. She frequently presents on elder law and estate planning topics throughout the Lowcountry, including at churches, senior centers, professional development seminars, and financial institutions.
In May 2026, Kathryn began pursuing a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) at Villanova University. The program deepens her knowledge of federal estate, gift, and income tax law and strengthens her ability to advise clients on tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies.
Kathryn serves on the Board of Directors of Annex Dance Company, a professional modern dance company in Charleston, South Carolina, and remains an active volunteer in her children’s schools, including serving a term as President of the James Island Elementary School Improvement Council. She is a parishioner at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and resides on James Island with her husband and children.
